So thanks to this video from www.wordpress.tv, I was able to import my blog into facebook as notes.
I really like the idea, but it makes for having some duplicate posts in facebook since flickr already posts the pictures, but I think this is just a matter of adjusting some settings.
Another minor issue is that the pictures do not seem to be showing up from the previously posted entries. I am partly using this video to see if it posts and I will post some other photos later on to see how well they transfer over.
My wife and I are training for the Country Music Half Marathon on April 25. Most of our updates regarding this are on our backpacking / outdoor blog at www.reubenandmissie.com, but I wanted to post something here with a link to my daily mile, which is a site that I am keeping track of the miles I log while training.
Look at the spike in hits that happened yesterday. I haven’t really written about anything more interesting than I have been, but I can attribute the increase to a site called alphainventions.com. As you can see from the next slide, the follow through clicks are limited. This got me curious, so I went to alphainventions.com blog to check it out and apparently the developer created this site to cycle through recently updated blogs to foster more immediate communication between bloggers. I am not really sure that itis working as intended as I only got about 3 or 4 click throughs even though the traffic was so highly increased and didn’t receive any comments.
This snapshot shows that a bit:
So woot was the name of this blog when I took it over from another Reuben, which I liked, so I left it the name. It got me curious as to what exactly woot is, so I did some googling. The biggest thing I found was the one that sells one item a day or at a time at a discounted rate.
I was prompted to write this because I bought my first woot, which was a webcam for 20 bucks.
So, I was wondering what you think, is woot! an appropriate title for my blog?
So, I don’t have a whole lot of readers, but I thought I would help my wife out a little bit and ask the people I do have coming here to take a look at her school’s online newspaper The Stratford Sentinel. This is one of the many projects she has taken on in her new role as English teacher at Stratford Comprehensive High in East Nashville. They have been nominated for , so please support her and go check it out and vote if you have the time.
There is a link to Missie’s teacher blog, Stugart Sense, under family in the blogroll in the sidebar, feel free to check that out too.
This is pretty cool: http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2008/11/say-hello-to-gmail-voice-and-video-chat.html
So I have a couple of updates. First, I have another blog, I know that I just got this one, but another Reuben was kind enough to allow me to use www.reuben.wordpress.com, so I will be moving over there I think. I will probably maintain this one for communication amongst my family. Which brings me to the topic of the post, hopefully there is actually high speed internet available here. I called Comcast today and they are sending out a survey team to see if it comes here. So we will know by next Tuesday if we can get internet.
This is interesting. Missie and I are sitting across from each other making blogs. Kinda weird, but I dig it. Any way, I have just created this blog and as I said in a previous post I am not entirely happy with some of the things that are missing from using the wordpress platform in my own domain.
With that said, I have created another blog at www.stugart.blog.com that I am testing to see if it provides me the features that I am missing here. Eventually I will probably get my own domain and go from there, but as of right now, I can’t find one that makes me happy. Unfortunately, www.reuben.com is taken, as is www.stugart.com.
I would really like www.reuben.com, it seems like google has ownership of it or something. It also doesn’t seem like anyone does anything with it. I am wondering who I might contact in order to get ownership of that domain.
The biggest feature that I am missing about this setup is the ability to send photos directly to the blog with my phone. This was something that I was able to do at www.reubenandmissie.com with the help of the postie plugin.
Another thing I am not particularly happy with is that when I add my twitter badge into a text bar, it doesn’t put the whole badge, just a link to the site, which I suppose is ok, but not what I was looking for.
