Woot!

Hello!

I am Reuben.

I have a lot of interests and some of them seem to conflict with each other, and I am OK with that.  I try to instill virtue into the way that I live my life and through my interactions with others.  I feel very fortunate and loved and feel that it is my duty to give back to my community.  I have been an AmeriCorps Volunteer and worked at Therapeutic Wilderness Programs for Eight years, helping kids connect to the outdoors is something I enjoy.  Community is another thing that I find important and work in different ways to develop my community.  It has been a change for me moving to a new area where I know very few people, but I have enjoyed the ability to maintain connections with my friends in the various social networks of which I am a member.  During the maintenance of relations ships and community online, I have gained a lot of insights to social media and have become interested in the web 2.0.

I love gardening and living simply, I do however love technology and my old ford truck, which goes back to the original statement that some of my interests seem to conflict.  I love my truck , I have put a lot of effort into restoring it and making it work properly…It gets 8 miles to the gallon on a good day.  I like to think of myself as environmentally conscious, this conflicts with that.

I have created this blog because my wife and I want to maintain an outdoor /  backpacking theme with our other blog at www.reubenandmissie.com.  That one was started as a wedding gift by her brother Greg to track our honeymoon Appalachian Trail hike.

This will provide me with a place to talk about whatever I want to talk about which will probably include some backpacking, my truck, gardens, gizmos and gadgets online, and whatever else I happen to stumble upon.
